We had some time to kill at the mall yesterday for girls night, so we checked out the free Me-ality machine they were pimping in the center court.
Essentially, you stand in a very particular (and slightly peculiar) position in a tube and it scans your body. The idea is that it then spits out a reading of your perfect size/style for jeans (or pants) to make shopping faster, easier, and more satisfying.
The scan itself took just a few minutes (maybe less than 2) and the print out was immediate. It was free and easy, and along with a printed version of my results I was emailed a more indepth profile.
So did I like it? Sadly, not at all. The sizes were totally off! One of the brand/style options of jeans on my print out happened to be the exact pair I was wearing… except they recommended it to me TWO sizes bigger than the size I wear. I tried on a few other brands too and found that they were universally between 1 and 2 sizes too big.
I don’t know how the scans work really, but I was disappointed to discover it wasn’t a useful technology for me. My girlfriend who also got scanned got much more accurate results, so maybe I’m just too amazing to be scanned…
