Our vacation was beautiful, wonderful, relaxing, perfect.  It was so nice to see my amazing parents and sister again.  I got a beautiful date day with my husband (we had a great time and I’ll blog about it tomorrow) and Evi spent a lot of quality time with her grandparents.  We went to the aquarium.  We ate great food.  I shared good wine with people I love.

And then we had to say goodbye… and I almost couldn’t take it.  In fact, leaving was weighing so heavily on me that I had a hard time enjoying the last few days of vacation.

The truth is that we’re a very close family, and being so far from my favorite people (at least the ones who don’t live in my house already) is extremely difficult for me.  On a daily basis, I do a pretty good job of ignoring how tough it is for me, because I have to do that to get through, but every time we go down it gets a little harder for me to leave.

I wish we could just move there, but we’ve got too much stopping us.  There is no way we could go now or anytime soon.  I will see my mom again in December, and we’re hoping to be able to go down for Christmas, so I’ll just have to make it until then.  I know that every day back into our normal routine will be a little easier than the last one, and that by next week I’ll probably be fine back at home.
